Parentals Come for a Visit

We recently had Kyle's parents in town for a weekend and let me tell ya, it was quite an overdue visit! (And much needed since we have not seen them since Thanksgiving.)
We had such a great time.
We ended up spending a lot of time relaxing and sitting around talking but on Saturday we went up to the Smokey Mountains for a picnic and hike. We went to Clemon's Dome, which is the highest peak in Tennessee. It was absolutely breathtaking! Here are some pictures from our day!

Winter Storm Octavian

Boy, the last few weeks have been a blur! Since Valentines Day, we have been "snowed in" at least 4-5 times. I say snowed in but I really mean 5-6" of snow at the most. In Tennessee, that is a lot! And the road conditions are always terrible since no one is really used to the snow. There are also not enough snow plows to take care of the entire city of Knoxville. So the list of endless excuse for our over dramatic flip-out about the snow continues. Freezing rain then a few blizzards put Kyle and I both out of work for several days. Kyle worked from home a little bit, and I....did not. I watched Gilmore Girls and basically wasted my life away. It was great!

After the first winter storm, Kyle and I went for a little walk around the neighborhood. You know, cause eventually you get tired of watching TV or reading and just want to get out of the house! I am so looking forward to when it warms up so we can take more walks together at the little park down the street from us. But for this walk, we tip-toed on a thick layer of ice and tried not to fall. It was so peaceful it was almost creepy.

Life is returning to normal (although we're supposed to have another snow storm tonight. eek!) whatever normal is. We are busy with work, church, and everything else once again. I almost kind of miss the whole "stay-at-home-in-my-pajamas" kind of days. It made me realize how much I like routine and how much I dislike it too. I needed to learn to relax a little, not work so hard. Take things in stride. Even on the days I did go into work a little later than usual, I had to tell myself "How many snow days are you going to get? Enjoy it!"

So we did.
